Pool and Boat Docks and Marinas Electrical Safety

Electrical Safety for Swimming Pools

This course is designed to prepare those installing, maintaining, and preparing pool wiring systems for use. Codes and standards that prevent electrical shock are covered in this course. The codes and standards used in this course are based on recent studies concerning the cause and effect of electrical shock drowning (ESD). The instructor for this course has been actively involved with NFPA research to determine cause and effect of electrical shock within and around swimming pools. EPRI research, NFPA 70 and NFPA research results are the prime standards use in this course.

The course covers equipotential bonding, grounding, wiring methods, overcurrent protection and specifics of installations. Also covered is a checklist for owners to verify fitness of pool for use.
