Lead and Asbestos Accreditation

The SafeState Environmental Accreditation Program is the Alabama state agency for accrediting lead-based paint and asbestos training providers and individuals.

Pollution Prevention (P2) Program

Partially funded by a grant from the U.S. EPA, the UA SafeState P2 Program assists businesses with technical assistance and training to find ways to reduce waste and save money. The FREE assessments examine energy efficiency, water conservation, chemical use, and waste reduction opportunities.

Asbestos in Schools (AHERA) Program

In collaboration with the Alabama Department of Public Health, SafeState is responsible for AHERA compliance monitoring at schools in Alabama. Part of the SafeState mission is to support LEAs with technical resources, compliance assistance, and training.

Healthy Homes in Alabama

Partially funded by a grant from the U.S. HUD, UA SafeState and ADPH assists homeowners in identifying and removing environmental hazards in the home. There is no cost to the homeowner. This grant focuses on some of Alabama’s vulnerable and underserved communities.
